About us

Kanyapong Family Welfare

A family welfare: members of the family and their households, contributing together so that nobody faces a death in the family, a crisis or a child’s school fees alone.

What we stand for

Four things we hold to

  • We carry one another

When one household is struck by loss or hardship, the whole family shares the weight — in money, in presence and in practical help.

  • Every shilling accounted for

Each contribution gets a receipt and each fund has one purpose. Members can see what was raised, what was spent and what is left.

  • Decided by members

Leaders are chosen by the members, matters are put to a vote, and decisions are minuted where every member can read them.

  • For the next generation

Bursaries, projects and a shared family history are how today’s members invest in the children who will carry the family on.

How it is run

Governed by its members

The welfare is run under its constitution by a committee the members choose. Officers hold specific responsibilities — the chair leads, the secretary keeps the records, the treasurer accounts for the money — and none of them can act on the money alone.

Separate funds

Funeral money, monthly welfare, projects and the reserve are kept apart, so money given for one purpose cannot quietly be spent on another.

Open votes

Members can raise a matter, and the committee puts it to everybody. Results are counted in the open.

Written down

The constitution, minutes and accounts are kept where members can read them, with an audit trail of who changed what.

Who can join
